Depression can be caused be many things.
  • Job loss
  • Finacial troubles
  • Relationship problems
  • Death of someone you know
  • Divorce
  • Career dissatisfaction
  • Poor diet
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Lack of sunlight
  • Dehydration
  • Too much TV
It's important to recognize the difference between short term sadness and depression. Everyone gets the blues, or ordinary sadness at various times during life. That's normal. If your dog dies, you are going to feel sad for a bit. (or maybe happy if you didn't like the dog) When the sadness is ongoing for a period of time, that's when to start thinking about depression.

We all want to achieve a sense of well being. Here a list of top tips for overcoming depression:
  • Move your body. Find out what type of exercise works for you and do it.
  • Diet - cut out junk food, be sure you are getting good nutrition.
  • Get the right amount of sleep.
  • Shut off the TV.
  • Get outdoors more.
  • Go for a walk.
  • Talk to a friend or make a new one by extending an act of kindness.
  • Find someone with a greater need than yourself and give them a helping hand.
